The Valley of Trails enjoys some of the best hiking trails on Vancouver Island. These trails will bring you through beautiful rain forest, along meandering creeks and rivers, past breathtaking waterfalls, to lakes big and small, and even along the ocean. There are many secret spots in the Alberni Valley and we’re going to help you find them. At the center of the Valley of Trails is the city of Port Alberni. As the name implies Port Alberni is a seaside town and serves as a gateway not only to the valley’s trails, but also to the trails of the west coast of Vancouver Island. Port Alberni is a great base camp to explore some of Vancouver Island’s most famous trails: Catheral Grove; Mount Arrowsmith; Mount Klitsa; Dela Falls; the Alberni Inlet Trail and even the world famous West Coast Trail.
For your convenience the Valley of Trails website categorizes the trails into three categories: short (for trails suitable for hour long hikes); medium (for trails suitable for half-day hikes); and long (for full day or overnight hikes). Of course you can always choose to spend an hour on a long trail – the choice is yours. We are constantly adding information about these Vancouver Island hikes and adding new trails all the time. So be sure to check back often. Most importantly, get out there in the fresh air and enjoy the Valley of Trails.
